Library Connect Groups: Connecting people and building community

Chris explains how attending the OutTogether book group at The Hive reduces his stress levels, improves his wellbeing and provides him with a real sense of belonging.

Library Connect Groups are informal meetings in libraries that bring people together over a common interest or shared experience.

Many are run by volunteers and they take place during both core staffed library opening hours and Libraries Unlocked opening hours.

They cover a diverse range of interests and experiences from language cafes, readers and writers groups to sign language and local history groups and Ukranian support groups.

Libraries offer around 200 connect group meetings each month and there are over 20,000 attendances at those group meetings each year.

Chris attends the Out2gether book group at The Hive and explains how it reduces his stress levels, improves his wellbeing and gives him a real sense of belonging.
